Benefits of Pets

A recent study confirmed that pets reduced stress for their owners. The report found that the benefits can extend to other employees, who loved brief interactions with their pets.

A research institute studied the impact of a dog on problem-solving. The result showed improved cooperation, trust, and cohesion in groups having a dog.

Workplaces that promote a pet-friendly environment enjoy the merit of retaining or attracting healthier and happier employees.

The Presence of Pets in Workplaces

As per reports, around seven percent of workplaces now permit pets. This has gone up from five percent, it clearly shows that there is a long way to go.

It requires careful consideration and planning. The first and foremost thing is to get permission from the management team.

Also, not all employees are in favor of pets at workplaces and some have the fear of contracting allergies. Creating designated pet zones is one way to manage both sections.

Fixed pet-friendly days help clear expectations about the day’s pets are allowed or not allowed. An appointed pet committee settle can handle all complaints that may arise.

Pet-proofing the workplace is the best step to ensure that our pet companions are safe. Some companies may consider allowing pets, especially dogs for traumatized employees with doctor’s recommendation.

Days have gone where you might have seen parents saying that they need to attend a poorly child, but survey mentions, pet parents take it further.

Men were ready to own up, with more than 60% saying they might opt to speak the truth.  A woman might tell the truth but not more than 55%.

As per reports, the younger generation did not like to leave their pets at home, with 35% of people in the age group of 18-24-year-olds.

This was in sharp contrast to 15% of people over 50.

Rather than take time off to attend to sick pets, cats and dog owners stated they spend around 20% of their sick leave on their pets.

Some employees thought it should rather be a management policy to provide sick leave to attend unwell pets because costs can be a huge factor.

The report says average pet owner ideally pays £60-80 on pet caretakers, and if sick pets are left unattended, there could be a great mess to clear up.

And, on a positive note, that restrictive attitude could be undergoing some changes. Most companies offer something called “Pawternity leave.”

When the workers adopt a puppy, so your superior might be more kind than you would think and allow time off when you own a poor pet.
